The Academic’s Dilemma: Balancing Passion and Profession

 Mr. Robert is an aspiring writer who works as a university lecturer. Recently, he has been deeply focused on writing novels. He has submitted two manuscripts to publishers, but unfortunately, both were rejected. Despite this, Mr. Robert still dreams of the day his books will provide for his needs. He doesn't aim to be a world-famous author or a millionaire; he simply hopes that by writing twenty books, he can afford a modest house, a car, and his children's education.

His motivation came from an entrepreneur and author who claimed that nineteen books were enough to support a family. This mentor suggested that one only needs an hour a day to write. Inspired, Mr. Robert went even further, spending more than an hour on his manuscripts. However, this led him to neglect his primary responsibilities as a lecturer. His workload was heavy, and he should have been prioritizing the research relevant to his field.

Mr. Robert soon realized he had taken the wrong steps. He should have prioritized his career, especially since his novels had yet to earn a single cent. Nevertheless, he refused to give up and continued to write. At his lowest point, he realized how difficult it truly is to produce a book. He concluded that he needed to synchronize his writing with his profession. Instead of keeping them separate, he decided to write about his experiences and expertise in his field, turning his professional knowledge into his next book.

How freelance make more money

The freelancer is a dream job for some people. The freelancer does not need to go to the office everyday. They can work whenever they want and wherever they want. A Freelancer is not similar to 9 to 5 slave who work from 9 am to 5pm. They do not have to punch absent card in absent machine or the company cut the salary.
Some people prefer becoming freelancer than the worker. They are free to express themselves. They can choose the boss who want pay them more. They do not have to do the jobs which If they do not like a boss they can serve other boss. Because of this, they are called as freelances.
Though, the freelancers do not receive monthly payment but they can get more money than an employee as log they can manage money well. They can save the money to investment or saving. A freelancer should save more money.
Being  a freelancer, you can make more money. On the other hand, the freelancer spending is not much as the employee. Here are the reason my freelancer make more money:

1. Despite the freelancer do not receive monthly salary, they can generate more money.
If they can get some project, they can make so much money. A Freelancer should be clever to seek out the jobs opportunities.  They can find at craigslist or internet that seek their service. They can also ask the friend or relative the service. 
The payment of the freelancer will increase when they have so much experience. For example: the experienced writer can get $40 each article easily, while, the amateur is difficult to get $5. Because of his, a freelancer should sharp heir skill and ability. They need to read more books and consult to the expert. They will get new knowledge
2. The freelancer does not need to pay high tax
In my country, most the online business has no pay the tax due the goverment has not yet to determine the tax laws. Some blogger who get thousand dollars have not yet paid the tax to the government. The government is going to create the freelancer income tax; however, the freelancers refuse it.  They said ha the government has not yet support the freelance jobs.
In my country or other underdeveloped country, the government has not create the freelance’s income law.

3. The freelancer has more time than the employee
An employee must work from 9 to 5. Sometimes the boss offers worktime to the employee. After arriving house, they must be tired. In my country, a worker could arrive home at 10 o’clock because the distance from the house to the office is so far or about 100 km. It takes three hours to arrive at the office. 
 As a freelancer, you have much time and you can use it to start the business. Do not waste your time for useless things. As a freelancer, you should be creative to make money. You can find another client who wants to hire your service. You can promote yourself on social media by posting your project. Tell them that you are able to do some project.  Some people who read your promotion may contact you soon or later.
You can also build a business too. While you have no project, you can care your business. The business may increase your income too.
Some mom can take care the kid and they do not have to go outside. They can stop the project for a moment when the baby cry and they can continue the work after the baby calm. The mom can generate more money and the baby grow health. Because of this, some mom prefer to work as a freelancer.
5. The Freelancer can stream more than one cash flow
An employee just receives one source income from the boss. Sometimes the boss gives also bonus and honor. Unlike the employee, a freelancer has no monthly salary but they get some money from the client. They can get money from various source, depending to what kind freelancers. A good freelancers can write a popular book, useful software, technology and else. The freelancer may stream the royalty from it. They can write a book or build a blog when they are free.
When they have no jobs, the freelancer can do some business. They can get money from the business. They can also offers maintenance service o he client. Sometimes a client meets the trouble with software or they want additional service from the freelancers. 
The freelancer should save more than employee can save. It is because they do not have pension fund. They can also stream income from investment such as stock dividend, mutual fund net asset value, capital gain and others.
6. The freelancer spending is lower
The freelancer do not need to go to office everyday.They do not need to buy gasoline for the car or they do not need to go to office everyday. They can slash $ 10 per day. They do not also pay the bus fare or bullet train ticket.  They can work at the house when they got jobs. They can meet the client when the work has done.
An employee need the nice shirt or uniform too; while, a freelancer does no have too. A freelancer can wear casual shirt that is cheaper than informal shirt.  An employee needs a good suite to attend the meeting or meet the client. They want looks professional by other people. A good suite price at least thousand dollars.
7. The freelancer lifestyle is llittle
The freelancer is very different with the employee. They do not have to play golf periodically or Visiting a gym like employee. Those activities need at least thousand dollars in a month. The freelancer does not need to register to any club.
The freelancer also does not need to eating out to talk with the client. He or she can talk with the client on chat, twitter, and e-mail. Sometimes an employee goes to the restaurant or café to celebrate the promotion.

Should I receive less paycheck

As the consequently of the high unemployment, some company decide to recruit low paying employee so they can trim down the company expenses. It is important for the company to reduce the cost, reminding their revenue has decreased since the crisis occurs.  The raw material cost is skyrocketing. Some government also increases the tax to increase budget.
Some fresh graduate may accept the jobs to find the experienced but some experienced employee may refuse the jobs.
Working for low salary may decrease the experience works bargain. Some economic or finance expert also said that some jobs has high opportunity cost, meaning you will lose some opportunity by taking the jobs. It is more terrible than being unemployment.
The experienced have ever enjoyed a high salary so it is difficult for them to accept low salary. They own house or car. They go to office by car. They prefer to find other jobs or opening a business. Opening a business can generate more money but you need capital to start it. Some unemployment can make money higher from business than when they are still working for the company.
If you have no money and business, you should take any jobs. In my country, a fresh graduate want to works for $65 a month. They have no choice. Some big company just want experienced employee only. The money is not enough for the employee necessity. However, they can save some spending by living with the parent. The paycheck is just enough for transportation, a cloth, and, lunch. They sacrifice to works for four hours than they can find other jobs. Some employee is success to do this strategy. I have ever seen that a doctor degree promote himself to work for food. He has no jobs so he needs some food. Asking other people or become a burglar is not a good way A burglar may generate thousand dollar a month but your pride will decrease. Perhaps, you will meet your family, neighbor, your lecture, your ex wife and else.
There are some benefits when you work for a company or firm whereas you just get little money, such as:
1. You still have a job
No matter how much your money that you will get, you still have job now. You can answer to someone who asks you where your occupation is. Your pride is still high if you have a job, even some people may mock you due its low salary. You can explain them where you works and how you works.
Perhaps you do not like stay home. By taking the jobs, you can go to office everyday. It might make you happy.
2. Your brain still work
An unemployment brain must does not work well because they do not use it. Perhaps they do not know how to sum the number with excel or spreadsheet. You may forget to copy a file or download a file.
Working can increase your knowledge and experience that will increase your value and expertness. The knowledge that you get from university may be different with your jobs. You will be able to work with words and spreadsheet. Some company may consider your experience to increase the paycheck. Someday you will be hired some good company that pay you high.
Staying at home without doing anything makes you crazy. Some people stress because they have no jobs. They become alcoholic because they drink too much. They think the alcohol can help them from unemployment. 
3. You get a network
By working, you will get new friend. Not all friends are a good man but you can get a few good men who help you. I get some friend in the university where I teach there. He asks me to teach at the school where he led. I am happy to hear that.
Surely, you should build a good relationship with your friend. Do not ever cheat them and make them down. Your reputation will be bad once you disappoint them.
Someday you need them. You can offer your business or stuff to them. You can also offers consultant service if you build a consultant company.
4. You get the project
Some jobs also offer the project to the employer. The projects are important to stream more income. You will work some jobs that make your experience and skill better.
5. You receive money
Is your salary enough? I am pretty sure it is not enough; however, you can save the money penny by penny. Use it to apply the other jobs. You can also use it to starting a business. It is better to get $100 than nothing. You can give it to your mother if you live at her house.

If you have no job at all, you have taken the jobs. I believe you will not satisfy with the paycheck, however, you can find other ways to stream other income. You can also start business such as online business to add your income.Some employee does the jobs after working hours. I heard a blogger still work though they just receive little dollar from it. He worked at the day and write at the night. When he got thousand dollars from blogging, he stops working.

Some people choose as freelancer while some other prefers as employee. The freelancer thinks that the freelancer is better than an employee because they can get more money. They can stream income from various sources such as payment, royalty, goodwill, and others. They can still work to for some university or school that needs experienced people.
Meanwhile, the employee feels comfort with the monthly salary. They can receive regularly payment from the boss that the freelancer does not receive it. With regular payment, the employee can manage the money easier than the freelancer.
The employer also set aside the salary to retirement fund such as IRA, or 401k. Those retirement fund can be withdrawn when you retire or when you quit working.
Some company facilitates the clinic that you can visit when you sick. The clinic provides some medicine. You do not have to spend money when you got sick. Some company allows you to bring your kids to clinic.
The company also pays insurance for you. When you got accident in factory or office, the company will pay the health cost.
However, not all company will pay the medical benefit, retirement fund, and insurance. Some company employ outsourced employee that has no right to get those items. The employee also grumbles to lower salary. Sometimes the claim payment is low.
As an employee, we should attend at the office at the morning and go home at the afternoon. If the boss orders you overtime, you may work overtime or not. The boss will pay your overtime. On other hand, freelancer does not need go to office every day. The freelancer can start work when someone orders the job or project. With so many empty times, they can do anything to collect some money.
A company usually retires the employee at 55 or 60 old years. The old man is not productive for the company so they should replace the old man with the young people. After retire, the employee must be difficult to find jobs. On other hand, freelance workers do not recognize retire. They can work as long their body health. Some company still hires the old consultant for doing some projects.
Some freelancer prefer to work for themselves and be own boss. They do not want any boss that angry to them or order them; meanwhile, an employee should obey what the boss said. Some boss makes the employee mad because he or she often shout load.
